July 2013 Videos

Here are the videos from the July 2013 NoVA Hackers Meeting.

I tried to set the thumbnail to the speaker's name and topic, but either YouTube is placating me by saying it accepted my change and not changing it, or it just takes a bit of time to update.  Not sure, but hopefully it will update soon.

Cheers!

NoVA Hackers March 2013 Meeting Videos

I volunteered to record speakers at the NoVA Hackers meeting that wanted to be recorded. It was actually fun, and thanks again to SureFire for his help too. The first 3 videos have their slides overlaid on the screen, but with the resolution of the video, I wasn't sure it was necessary, so the last 2 speakers don't have the overlay. I'd be interested to hear your opinion. I can tell you that NOT overlaying the slides makes processing A LOT faster. I've got a youtube playlist of all the speakers. A list of all the speakers and a link to their talk.
And down below, each of the speakers with an embedded video, ready to go.

Malware Analysis Training at Nova Labs

It's official: Wednesday April 17th, 2013 from 7:00pm to 9:00pm will be the first Malware Analysis class at Nova Labs.  The MAL100 - Basic Dynamic Analysis class will cover basic dynamic analysis, where students will run a simple malware sample in a hosted sandbox environment and learn how to identify changes in that environment with popular analysis utilities. The classes will be $25 per class and each session will be capped at 20 students 15 students (reduced due to space size constraints).  Based on the popularity so far the first class may need to be repeated 3x!

There are plans to make the course content available to students remotely, but that's still being worked out.  UStream is highly likely, but access to the lab environment is going to require students to be on-site.  The beauty of the class setup is all you need to bring is a Laptop with a VNC client.  You'll get access to a virtual machine running on a Nova Labs server.
